The painting, attributed to Dutch artist Toon Kelder, once hung in Hendrik Seyffardt’s family home, but its origin remains unclear. However, recent developments indicate that the piece may have been lost during the war and reappeared in a descendant’s possession. Seyffardt, a notorious collaborator, was executed in 1943, and his family faced scrutiny over their handling of looted art. An anonymous relative shared stories of their past, urging public disclosure after the painting was sold at an auction. The family member, who saw the painting displayed in the hallway, expressed regret over the loss, while the relatives emphasized the importance of returning the artwork.
